Financial Stress Survey Wave 1 in 2018

<p data-end="613" data-start="442">Wave 1 used an anonymous, self-administered questionnaire to gather information from adult farmland workers and their families in the United States. The survey focused on:</p>

<p data-end="748" data-start="617"><strong data-end="644" data-start="617">Family financial stress</strong> (perceived financial pressure, difficulty meeting expenses, worry about debt and income instability),</p>

<p data-end="903" data-start="751"><strong data-end="798" data-start="751">Financial behaviors and resource management</strong> (budgeting, saving, borrowing, bill-paying habits, use of formal and informal financial services), and</p>
</li>

<p data-end="1029" data-start="906"><strong data-end="949" data-start="906">Basic socio-demographic characteristics</strong> (age, gender, education, household structure, employment in agriculture, etc.).</p>

<p data-end="1454" data-start="1031">The primary purpose of Wave 1 was to <strong data-end="1165" data-start="1068">establish a baseline profile of financial stress and related behaviors among farmland workers</strong>, so that subsequent waves could track changes over time and inform the design of targeted behavioral interventions and educational programs for this population. All data were collected without direct identifiers, and responses were treated as confidential in accordance with IRB approval.</p>
