Data and Code: BRM Knowledge and Authority-Gradient Attitudes among Naval Cadets

De-identified dataset, research instruments, content-validity evidence, and analysis code from a study of Bridge Resource Management training at a naval academy.Participants were all third-year cadets enrolled in a Bridge Resource Management course (census sample, N = 70), none of whom held prior ship-command experience. Two instruments were administered: an 11-item multiple-choice knowledge test aligned with STCW competency statements, and a 22-item attitude scale adapted from the Cockpit Management Attitudes Questionnaire, measuring stated willingness to challenge a superior on a safety matter. Files are numbered in reading order. Raw item responses are stored without reverse-coding applied, so that the scoring can be verified independently; the codebook gives the reverse-scoring rule, subscale composition, and scoring direction. The analysis script reproduces every statistic reported in the associated manuscript directly from the dataset. The design is cross-sectional and attitude-level. It measures stated attitudes, not observed behaviour, and cannot establish causation. Results are reported in a manuscript currently under peer review.
