Election Study 1983 (Panel)

Judgement on parties and politicians in a panel study with two surveys
shortly before as well as another further survey after the early
Federal Parliament Election in 1983.

Topics: 1. The following questions were repeated in all three waves:
judgement on current economic situation as well as on anticipated
economic development in the Federal Republic; political interest;
voting behavior in the 1980 Federal Parliament election; party
identification; party preference (rank order, list and ballot
procedure); sympathy scale for SPD, CDU, FDP, the Greens as well as for
selected top politicians in the Federal Parliament and in the
government; self-assessment on a left-right continuum; issue-relevance
and issue-competence of the parties; judgement on the political system
and the present government as just and fair and as protector of
fundamental civil liberties of the citizens.

2. Beyond this the following questions were asked in the three
individual waves:

a) In the first wave: voting intent and certainty of
one´s voting decision; attitude to a reduction in student aid;
judgement on the peace movement and personal willingness to participate
in demonstrations; evaluation of leadership personalities in the
Federal Republic; necessity of a new party to represent the interests
of the respondent; attitude to an entry of the Greens or the FDP´s
remaining in the Federal Parliament; attitude to the intervention of
the state in the life of its citizens; attitude to the political
influence of churches and trade unions; expectation of an early Federal
Parliament election in March 1983; preferred government coalition after
the election; memberships; religiousness; characterization of
residential area according to professional groups.

b) In the second wave: certainty and time of personal election
decision; party and candidates voted for in 1980; satisfaction with the
top candidate of the preferred party; good and bad sides of the
parties; parties one cannot vote for; unemployment in one´s own family;
preferred government coalition after the election; expected election
result; preferred federal chancellor; residental status of respondent;
anticipated rent increase this year; justification of rent increases to
create housing.

c) In the third wave: personal voting behavior in the Federal
Parliament election; voting at a polling station or by absentee ballot;
change of voting behavior in case of knowledge about the election
result; judgement on the election result; preferred government
coalition; judgement on the election campaign TV discussion of the top
candidates; judgement on the election campaign in general; assessment
of the most active election campaigner; attitude to the peace movement
and willingness to participate in demonstrations; perceived position of
the parties in the Federal Parliament on the most important issues;
most important personal problems at present; anticipated help from
family or state and authorities in solving these problems.

本数据集为1983年联邦议会提前选举相关的面板追踪研究（panel study）数据，包含三次调研：两次于选举前开展，一次于选举后开展，核心内容为各党派与政治人物的评价。

调研主题：
1. 三次调研均重复设置以下问题：
对德意志联邦共和国当前经济形势与预期经济发展的评价、政治兴趣、1980年联邦议会选举投票行为、党派认同、党派偏好（含排序法、名单法与投票流程）、针对德国社会民主党（SPD）、基督教民主联盟（CDU）、自由民主党（FDP）、绿党（the Greens）以及联邦议会与政府中部分顶尖政治人物的好感量表评分、在左右翼连续谱（left-right continuum）上的自我定位、各党派的议题重要性与议题胜任力、对政治体制与现任政府是否公正公平、是否为公民基本自由权（fundamental civil liberties）守护者的评价。

2. 除此之外，三次调研分别额外设置以下专项问题：
a) 第一波调研：投票意向与投票决策确定性、对削减学生资助的态度、对和平运动的评价与个人参与示威游行的意愿、对德意志联邦共和国政坛领袖人物的评价、是否需要新党派以代表受访者利益、对绿党加入联邦议会或自由民主党留任联邦议会的态度、对国家干预公民生活的态度、教会与工会的政治影响力、对1983年3月提前举行联邦议会选举的预期、选举后首选执政联盟、会员身份、宗教虔诚度、按职业群体划分的居住区特征。

b) 第二波调研：个人投票决策的确定性与时间节点、1980年选举中支持的党派与候选人、对首选党派顶尖候选人的满意度、各党派的优缺点、不可投票支持的党派、家庭中的失业情况、选举后首选执政联盟、预期选举结果、首选联邦总理、受访者居住状况、本年度预期房租上涨幅度、对房租上涨以建设住房的合理性评价。

c) 第三波调研：联邦议会选举中的个人投票行为、现场投票或邮寄投票、若知晓选举结果后的投票行为变化、对选举结果的评价、首选执政联盟、对顶尖候选人竞选电视辩论的评价、对整体竞选活动的评价、对最积极竞选者的评价、对和平运动的态度与参与示威游行的意愿、感知到的联邦议会各党派在核心议题上的立场、当前最紧迫的个人问题、预期从家庭或国家机关解决这些问题可获得的帮助。
