To better understand the market demand for lidar across different regions nationwide, it is necessary to conduct data analysis on the price elasticity of demand for the product across different cities. All enterprises in the relevant industry can develop marketing strategies based on the results of this data analysis. If the demand for the product is price elastic, the product price can be appropriately reduced to increase sales and seize market share; if the demand is price inelastic, the product price can be appropriately increased to improve profit margins and build a high-end brand image. This dataset provides critical reference value for enterprises' decision-making regarding resource allocation and market layout across different regions nationwide.
1. Data Collection: Collect monthly demand data and price data of lidar across different cities in China, and conduct year-over-year analysis within the system to obtain the changes in product demand and price.
2. Data Calculation: The price elasticity of demand coefficient Ed can be obtained using the calculation formula: Ed = -(ΔQ/Q) ÷ (ΔP/P). In the formula: Q represents the product demand, measured in units; P represents the product price, measured in yuan (denominated in RMB); ΔQ represents the year-over-year change in product demand, measured in units; ΔP represents the year-over-year change in product price, measured in yuan (denominated in RMB). The absolute value |Ed| of the price elasticity of demand coefficient is taken as the reference coefficient for data analysis.
3. Data Analysis: The price elasticity of demand for the product can be analyzed based on the value of |Ed|:
(1) |Ed| = 1 (unitary price elasticity of demand): indicates that the magnitude of change in demand is the same as that in price;
(2) 1 < |Ed| < ∞ (price elastic demand): indicates that the magnitude of change in demand is greater than that in price;
(3) 0 < |Ed| < 1 (price inelastic demand): indicates that the magnitude of change in demand is less than that in price;
(4) |Ed| → 0 (perfectly price inelastic demand): indicates that the demand remains fixed regardless of changes in price;
(5) |Ed| → ∞ (perfectly price elastic demand): indicates that demand can change arbitrarily at a given price.
