NSF-OOI Fluorometric Chl-a, FDOM, and Backscatter, 2014-2026

This dataset consists of bin-averaged (1-minute or 1-meter) fluorometric chlorophyll-a, fluorometric dissolved organic matter, and/or optical backscatter measurements from each of the NSF-OOI sites, collected between April 2014 to June 2026. WARNING: These data have not been assessed outside the application of automated quality tests or adjusted to discrete samples collected during deployment and recovery cruises. It is recommended that you review the OOI BGC Best Practices Guide for more advanced processing steps. Profiler data have also not been corrected for any difference in height between the fluorometer and the CTD pressure sensor. Data are organized by site, platform, position in the water column, instrument, and deployment. Example: RCA-AXIAL-SHALLOW-PROFILER Indicates that the data are from the Regional Cabled Array Axial Seamount Shallow Profiler. Another Example: CE-OR-INSHORE-7M Indicates that the data are from the Coastal Endurance Array Oregon Inshore Site 7 meters nominal depth. For deployments on profilers, data are binned by profile start time and 1-meter averages. Only upward profiles are provided in this curated dataset. Not all fluorometer/scatterometer deployments from the OOI exist in this curated dataset. Many deployments are not provided if data were clearly bad or if the profiler was inoperable. Data have been excluded from the binned product if: They failed the OOI QARTOD primary tests. The profile did not span more than 10 meters. Ancillary data are from the original GoldCopy files and have only been quality assessed through the OOI QARTOD primary flag results.
