This dataset includes daily, annual and multi-annual mean surface mass balance data observed using glacier stakes on the Antarctic Ice Sheet, ice (snow) cores/snow pits, automatic weather station altimeters and ground-penetrating radars. It is primarily applicable to disciplines including glaciology, climatology and hydrology. Specifically, it can be employed for quantitative analysis of spatiotemporal variations in Antarctic surface mass balance, climate model validation, driving ice sheet models and firnification models, and so forth.
