CArea: Claimable and Disputable Areas of Countries, 1946-2024

CArea is a dataset of claimable and disputable areas of each state for the period of 1946-2024. If a state can potentially claim a territory according to international norms, the territory is claimable to the state. If a territory is claimable to more than one state, the territory is disputable to those states. The folder claimable_area contains an ESRI Shapefile file of claimable areas for each year. The folder claimable_area_intersect contains an ESRI Shapefile file of disputable areas for each year. The file dyad_year_claim_added.parquet is the dataset aggregated at a dyad-year level.
