This is the marsh organ data for the paper titled “Are marsh organs suitable for measuring biogeochemical function?” This is a subset of the marsh organ data from this experiment. The full dataset will be published at a later date and this version will be updated with the DOI for the full dataset.Variable meaning:Date_Week: The first date of the week the data were collectedSite: FW is the freshwater marsh organ location in Muddy Creek (38.883904° N, -76.558236° W), BW is the brackish marsh organ location at the Global Change Research Wetland (38.874768° N , -76.546489° W).Pot_ID: The identification number for the specific pot of plants in each marsh organOrgan_ID: The identification number for the marsh organ the data were collected from at each siteOrgan_Row: The elevation treatment for each row of the marsh organ. “0” was set at the Global Change Research Wetland S. americanus elevation in 2022, “-10” is 10 cm lower than 0 and “+10” is 10 cm higher than 0.Vegetation: Whether vegetation was planted in the pot. “Veg” means vegetation was present. “Bare” means no vegetation was planted in the pot.Heat: The heating treatment for each pot. “Amb” means the pots were not heated so they were ambient temperature. “6C” means the pots were heated to a target of 6 degrees Celsius above ambient temperature.Redox_Av: The uncorrected reduction-oxidation potential in millivolts (mV). The correction term used should be +202mV.Live_Biom_Area: The living aboveground biomass measured using allometric methods for Schoenoplectus americanus scaled to meters squared (m2) in units grams per meter squared (g m-2).Season: The season when the data was collected.flux.CO2: The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted from each pot with positive numbers representing emission and negative numbers representing uptake of CO2 in the units millmoles per meter squared per day (mmol m-2 d-1). Fluxes were calculated as the linear change in concentration in a dark chamber. Concentration was measured by an LI-7810 over a 5-minute period.AirTC_Avg.mean: The air temperature measured inside of each chamber during the flux period by a HOBO pendant light/temperature logger.
