Effects of four treatments (control, rice straw addition, gypsum addition, and hematite addition) on the redox-controlled cadmium and arsenic mobility in a paddy soil were investigated via an incubation experiment. Soil were sampled at different time points. Soil chemical properties were determined and soil DNA extracted. Amplicons of the arsC gene, which is involved in detoxification arsenic reduction, were sequenced on a Illumina MiSeq platform. The arsC gene was amplified with the primer pairs amlt-42-f/amlt-376-r and smrc-42-f/smrc-376-r (Sun et al. 2004).
