Carbapenems are prohibited to be used in poultry production chain, however carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceaee can contaminate the broiler chickens in the commercial farms and New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase reported in 2008 has been one of the main type of carbapenemase which can confer resistance to almost all beta-lactams including carbapenems. Hence, systematic investigations was initiated to monitor NDM-producing Enterobacteriaceae in a commercial broiler farm for long-term.
