Biomass – sludge from waste water treatment on site 2019

This map provides an insight into the amount of sludge from wastewater treatment on site in kton/year that is released as waste stream from companies in South Holland at municipal level. This category consists of particular of sewage sludge and fats of vegetable origin and food preparation. When companies produce residual flows, these companies are obliged to maintain the quality and the quantity to be reported to the National Waste Reporting Point (LMA). ‘on-site wastewater treatment sludge’ is a residual steam of the food and tobacco industry, also known as a VGI residual stream. In the context of the issue of biomass as residual streams and their valuation, from the province of South Holland an inventory was carried out to the various biomass available in the province.
