We analyzed the complete genome sequences of Chryseobacterium indologenes strains isolated from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Phenotypically, most isolates (97 - 100 %) were found to be resistant to the following classes of antimicrobials; β–lactams, macrolides, aminoglycosides and sulphonamides. Whole genome sequences analysis revealed presence of putative resistance genes, several chromosomally encoded efflux pumps associated genes that mediate resistance to numerous antimicrobials and putative virulence factors . Findings from this study may shed light on the development of more efficient prevention strategies against infections caused by the fish pathogen C. indologenes.
