Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Genome sequencing and assembly. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica

Between 2002 and 2011, several strains of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium were isolated from environmental, food and clinical sources in five different states across the United States, which all have the same traditional subtyping profiles and identical to common laboratory strain 14028s. These S. Typhimurium strains were sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq and used for whole genome SNP analysis, using strain 14028s as a reference, in order to establish the phylogenetic relationship of these strains to each other, and also provide additional scientific-based data for creating appropriate SNP analysis cutoff values for source tracking S. Typhimurium outbreaks.
