The Sub-Mesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment (S-MODE) is a NASA Earth Venture Suborbital-3 mission with the objective to understand what role submesoscale ocean processes play in vertical transport of heat, nutrients, oxygen, and carbon from the ocean surface to the deeper ocean layers below. As part of the programs, Seaglider and SGX underwater gliders occupy patterns across small-scale fronts and filaments of interested. 亚中尺度海洋动力学实验(Sub-Mesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment, S-MODE)是美国国家航空航天局(National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA)地球探索亚轨道-3(Earth Venture Suborbital-3)任务,其目标为阐明亚中尺度海洋过程在热量、营养盐、氧气与碳从海洋表层向下方深层海洋垂直输运过程中所发挥的作用。作为该任务的组成部分,海滑翔机(Seaglider)与SGX水下滑翔机会在目标小型海洋锋面与流丝区域布设作业航线。滑翔机每6小时完成一次从海面至1000米深度再返回的剖面观测,航行速度约为20千米/日。
