DNA was isolated from Australian Plague Locusts. These locusts were either healthy or displaying symptoms of disease. 16S metabarcoding highlighted major differences between the two microbial cohorts. A major discriminant was highly abundant Serratia barcodes in diseased locusts. Serratia were isolated from insect tissue and whole genome sequences acquired.
