Deep learning and attention mechanisms to identify key genes and their implications for the origin of insect wings

Protein sequences of 119 insect species were selected from the NCBI (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) database, and these protein sequence were used as the constructed dataset for DeepGW (Table S1). The 119 species were categorized into 38 wingless and 81 winged based on the evolutionary characteristics of wings (Table 1), and the molecular mechanisms of key genes on the origin and evolution of insect wings were investigated by DeepGW.
