A dataset of soil nitrogen-cycling functional genes abundance and microbial community properties in typical temperate and subtropical forests under nitrogen and phosphorus additions

The datasets of the abundance of nitrogen-cycling functional genes and the properties of nitrogen-cycling microbial communities were constructed based on the field experimental setup of nitrogen and phosphorus additions in forests of Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN). We collected top-soils from typical forests in eastern China, including a temperate forest (Changbai Mountain) and two subtropical forests (Qianyanzhou and Dinghu Mountain) with nitrogen and/or phosphorus additions, and also soils along vertical profiles in plots without nutrient additions. We measured and collected results of the abundances of functional genes involved in nitrogen-cycling, diversities and community structures of nitrogen-cycling microbes, potential activities of nitrogen-cycling microbial communities and soil physiochemical properties. These datasets consist of 2475 results involved in the properties of nitrogen-cycling microbes and 684 results involved in the soil physiochemical properties. It includes 4 microbial processes, namely, nitrogen fixation, organic nitrogen mineralization, nitrification and denitrification, and 9 functional genes involved in these processes, namely, ammonia oxidizing archaea amoA, ammonia oxidizing bacteria amoA, nirK, nirS, nosZ, qnorB, narG, nir, nifH and chiA. These datasets also include soil physiochemical properties, namely soil pH, moisture content, the concentrations of organic carbon, NH4+, NO3−, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, total carbon, total phosphorus and dissolved organic carbon, N2O emission and net nitrification rate.
本数据集依托中国生态系统研究网络(Chinese Ecosystem Research Network, CERN)森林生态系统的氮、磷添加野外控制实验构建,涵盖氮循环功能基因丰度与氮循环微生物群落属性相关数据。研究团队采集了中国东部典型森林的表层土壤样品:包括设置氮/磷添加处理的温带森林(长白山)、亚热带森林(千烟洲与鼎湖山),同时采集了无养分添加样地的垂直剖面土壤样品。数据集收录了氮循环功能基因丰度、氮循环微生物多样性与群落结构、氮循环微生物群落潜在活性以及土壤理化性质的测定结果。本数据集包含2475条氮循环微生物属性相关记录与684条土壤理化性质相关记录。本数据集涵盖4类微生物过程,即固氮作用、有机氮矿化作用、硝化作用与反硝化作用,以及参与上述过程的9种功能基因,分别为氨氧化古菌amoA(ammonia oxidizing archaea amoA)、氨氧化细菌amoA(ammonia oxidizing bacteria amoA)、nirK、nirS、nosZ、qnorB、narG、nir、nifH与chiA。此外,数据集还包含土壤理化性质相关指标,具体包括土壤pH值、土壤含水量、有机碳浓度、铵态氮(NH4+)、硝态氮(NO3−)、有效磷、全氮、总碳、总磷、溶解性有机碳、氧化亚氮(N2O)排放以及净硝化速率。
