Collection of pearl millet RNA sequencing data

Pearl millet (<i>Pennisetum glaucum</i>, also known as <i>Cenchrus americanus</i>) is a C4 cereal crop that can tolerate stressed conditions including drought-stressed, high temperature-stressed and nutrient-poor conditions. Transcriptomes of pearl millet were studied by RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) to understand mechanisms regulating its development and tolerance to such stressed conditions in previous studies. We collected RNA-Seq reads from as many of such studies in the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) BioProject database as popssible, and mapped them to the pearl millet reference genome to obtain read counts and transcripts per million (TPM) for each pearl millet gene. Here, the resulting count and TPM data as well as the attributes of the samples used for the RNA-Seq are provided. These data can be updated when a new study with RNA-Seq of pearl millet samples has become available.

珍珠粟（*Pennisetum glaucum*，又名*Cenchrus americanus*）是一种C4谷类作物，可耐受干旱胁迫、高温胁迫及养分贫瘠等逆境环境。过往研究已通过RNA测序（RNA Sequencing, RNA-Seq）对珍珠粟的转录组展开分析，以解析调控其生长发育与胁迫耐受的分子机制。本研究从美国国家生物技术信息中心（National Center for Biotechnology Information, NCBI）的BioProject数据库中，收集了尽可能多的此类相关研究的RNA-seq读段，并将其比对至珍珠粟参考基因组，最终得到每个珍珠粟基因的读段计数（read counts）与每百万转录本（transcripts per million, TPM）数值。本数据集提供了上述基因计数与TPM数据，以及用于RNA-seq实验的样本属性信息。当有新的珍珠粟RNA-seq相关研究发表时，本数据集可进行更新。
