Body masses of the 15 largest mammalian primary consumers in African and Amazonian rainforest

These data document the smaller size of Amazonian primary consumers by
comparison with their African rainforest counterparts. In particular,
Amazonia has conspicuously  fewer large folivorous species.
Late-Quaternary anthropogenic extinctions (discussed in the Biotropica
article) account for most size and trophic mismatches between these
otherwise similar Recent faunas.
