Some nests appear to be located outside the canopy since the hemisphere and the cylinder are just approximations of the actual tree and in reality the canopy is not a perfect hemisphere. Typically, there will be branches that are jutting out in different directions, which have been ignored in the visualization. Similarly, the nests are not spherical in reality and tend to be of different shapes and sizes.
