Investigation of the Effects of Ramadan Fasting on Gut Microbiota and Metabolic Parameters in Prediabetic Patients

This project examines the impact of Ramadan fasting on gut microbial composition and host metabolic parameters in prediabetic individuals. Longitudinal stool samples were collected at three intervals (day 1, 1 month, and 3 months) and analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing at the genus level. Diversity metrics, taxonomic composition, functional predictions, and correlations with clinical parameters such as HbA1c, HOMA-IR, and lipid profiles were evaluated. The dataset provides insights into how intermittent fasting modulates the gut microbiome and may contribute to improved metabolic health in at-risk populations.
