NRS-15811 | Indexes to Minute books of general council [Municipality of Balmain]

This series contains the indexes to minutes of the Municipality of Balmain. These indexes are arranged alphabetically by first letter of given subject. The following information is recorded in the index: subject, street name, or surname, and the corresponding page in the minutes. The page numbers are recorded chronologically. The indexes are in the form of hand written booklets. Items raised within the minutes determine the subjects covered by the indexes. The range of subjects include: special council meetings, committee reports, officers reports, complaints, inquiries, correspondence received, staffing issues, election results, maintenance of council property, road maintenance and repair, interaction with other councils and organisations, local government issues, and rating inquiries. The indexes in this series cover the minutes for the following period, 1887 – 1890, 1893 - 1896, and 1923 –1927. A fragment of the index for 1890 – 1893 is extant, and is located in the front of the volume of minutes for 1882 - 1887. The remaining part of this index is missing. A majority of the minute books in NRS 15810 contain an index, excepting, 1860 – 1862, and 1931 – 1941. The location and status of indexes for these periods is unknown. Indexes may have been maintained in the Minutes Books from 1941 onwards. Custody History This series was in the custody of Mitchell library from 1965 until December 2001 when it was transferred to State Records NSW under section 29 of the State Records Act, 1998.

新南威尔士州档案编号（NRS）15810下的多数会议纪要卷宗均附带索引，仅1860年—1862年、1931年—1941年的卷宗除外，上述时段的索引留存情况与存放地点目前尚不明确。1941年及之后的会议纪要卷宗或已附带索引。

保管历史
本系列档案自1965年起由米切尔图书馆（Mitchell Library）保管，直至2001年12月，依据《1998年新南威尔士州档案法》第29条，该档案被移交至新南威尔士州档案馆（State Records NSW）。
