Combination of all age vulnerability factorsPopulation aged 0-1This factor represents the proportion of the population aged 0-1 (which is an age group likely to be more vulnerable to heat). Therefore a higher proportion of individuals within this age category is higher risk. This factor is based on data from the 2019 population estimates.  Office for National Statistics Lower Super Output Area population estimates (supporting information) (ons.gov.uk)Population aged 2-5This factor represents the proportion of the population classed as aged 2-5 (which is an age group likely to be more vulnerable to heat). This factor is based on data from the 2019 population estimates.  Office for National Statistics Lower Super Output Area population estimates (supporting information) (ons.gov.uk)Population aged 65-74This factor represents the proportion of the population aged 65-74 (which is an age group likely to be more vulnerable to heat). Therefore a higher proportion of individuals within this age category is higher risk. This factor is based on  data from the 2019 population estimates.  Office for National Statistics Lower Super Output Area population estimates (supporting information) (ons.gov.uk)Population aged 75 plusThis factor represents the proportion of the population aged 75+ (which is an age group likely to be more vulnerable to heat). Therefore a higher proportion of individuals within this age category is higher risk. This factor is based on  data from the 2019 population estimates.  Office for National Statistics Lower Super Output Area population estimates (supporting information) (ons.gov.uk)Population aged 65 and living aloneThis factor represent the proportion of the population who are over the age of 65 and living alone (a characteristic which may increase their vulnerability to heat). Therefore a higher proportion of individuals within this age category is higher risk. This factor is based on 2011 census data. Nomis official census and labour market statistics 2011 census (nomisweb.co.uk).
