DNA metabarcoding as a complementary approach to traditional surveys for monitoring plant diversity in ironstone outcrops (canga) of the Serra dos Carajás in the Eastern Amazon (Pará, Brazil). This study demonstrates the application of DNA metabarcoding of soil eDNA for surveying plant diversity in the cangas of Serra dos Carajás, to support monitoring efforts and biodiversity assessments in this unique and diverse Amazon ecosystem. Soil eDNA samples were collected from four plots (PCG-168, PCG-121, PCG-173, and PCG-235) during the dry season. The nuclear ITS2 region was amplified and sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq platform. This project is part of the Canga Plant Genomics initiative (Bioproject PRJNA448777), which focuses on genomic technologies and bioinformatics for studying plants in canga ecosystems.[This dataset was processed using the GBIF Metabarcoding Data Toolkit.]
