Data is based on ECHAM5-CCMod simulations performed at Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum (DKRZ) for the study Regional and seasonal variability in decreasing contrail cirrus cloudiness using SAF. Description of the simulation setup can be found in the publication. The Archive_Data.zip contains data to reproduce the figures of the publication and contains following files: Fig1a_AEDT_annual_flightdistance_map.nc (vertically integrated annual flight distance in AEDT flight inventory for the year 2006) Fig1b_Profiles_regional_annual_flightdistance.nc (vertically resolved annual flight distance in AEDT flight inventory for the year 2006 for the four investigated regions) Fig2_RE_Nvortex_maps.nc (geographically resolved data of ice crystal number after the vortex loss, i.e. at initialization in ECHAM5-CCMod, and of the radiative effect for the KERO simulation as well as the relative change of the two qunatities between the KERO and SAF simulation) Fig3_ContrailProperties_supporting_Boxplots.nc (regional and seasonal mean data of the depicted quantities radiative effect, ice crystal number after vortex loss, optical depth, ice crystal number concentration, ice water content, coverage with an optical depth of tau>0.02 and the flight distance forming a contrail) Fig4_Deltas_of_contrail_properties.nc (averaged differences between the KERO and the SAF simulation for the ice crystal number after the vortex loss, the ice water content, the optical depth, the coverage with an optical depth of tau>0.02 and the resulting abolsute change in the radiative effect on a regional an seasonal scale, extended by the annual mean differences for each region) Fig5_Deltas_target_use_SAF_season.nc (averaged differences between the KERO and the SAF simulation for the the optical depth, the coverage with an optical depth of tau>0.02 and the change in the radiative effect per kilogram of SAF on a regional an seasonal scale) Fig6a_Normalized_RadiativeEffect_Nvortex.nc (global and regional annual data for ice crystal number after the vortex loss and the radiative effect for the KERO and the SAF simulation, normalized on the 20 year mean of the KERO simulation) Fig6b_Biases.nc (regional and seasonal bias of change in radiative effect with respect to a global 20years mean change between the KERO and the SAF simulation) The Archive_Data_Supplement.zip contains data to reproduce the figures of the supplememtary material and contains following files: FigS1_Profiles_Coverage.nc (mean vertical profiles of young contrail and contrail cirrus coverage together with an average pressure profile for each region) FigS2_RE_Nvortex_Maps.nc (same as Fig2_RE_Nvortex_maps.nc but with absolute differences for the ice crystal number after the vortex loss and the radiative effect between the KERO and the SAF simulation) FigS3_Deltas_target_use_SAF_season.nc (similar to Fig5_Delta_target_use_SAF_season.nc but for a subregion of USA-Mexico area. The subregion contains the subtropical part of the USA-Mexico area south of 35°N. Other regions are unchanged)
