Leptree II: phylogenomics via RNA sequencing

This project applies next-generation sequencing, specifically transcriptome RNA-Seq, to problems of deep phylogeny in the insect order Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies). In particular, it seeks to determine whether this approach can robustly resolve the radiation of the so-called apoditrysian superfamilies, containing most of the species of Lepidoptera, for which previous nuclear gene studies have failed to provide conclusive evidence.
