Maidou lived with his family in an area called Njasane, which the community referred to as Njambai. Before settling there, he lived with the Bojang clan behind the market. He was a member of the Bojang clans in Suma Kunda, Hawla Kunda, and Mansaring Su. Within his marriage, Maidou had two wives and his children were, Amadou, Hawa, Sireng, and Faburama. While his grandparents were Nasiring Jatta and Mamudou Suteh. The first settlement of the Bojangs was at Kartong before finally relocating to Brikama. The other area they settled was Sanyang. Originally, the Bojangs possessed the surname Conteh from Manding. They migrated along with the Jattas who founded Busumbala. According to the elders, they traveled via Budunko and Karon Kobiko. The ruler they arrived with died at Kartong. The rulers he knew were as follows: Mansa Colley from Suma Kunda, Foday Musa from Mansaring Su, Fa Dembo, Landing, Jerreba, and Pa Dembo, all of whom were from the Bojang clan. The Contehs were from the eastern part of Manding. They were non-Muslims and fought against Kombo Sillah, but lost the war. Brikama was a large town but after the war with Kombo Sillah, several of the people dispersed, some to Nuimi and other regions. Mansa Colley later joined the Europeans, who fought and defeated Kombo Sillah. Some claimed the war was about converting non-Muslims to Islam and others alleged, that this occurred over the payment of taxes. There is a banter-mate relationship between Brufut and Brikama, Conteh and Camara, also Kabu and Kombo. References to entities made in the recording Culture: Mandinka Language: Mandinka Persons: Maidou Bojang, Amadou, Hawa, Sireng, Faburama.
