Gene database of Caenorhabditis elegans

<i>Caenorhabditis elegans</i> is a heavily research upon model organism useful for informing us of the possible genetic underpinnings of human aging as well as disease. A worm whose cellular lineage has been defined by a rich body of prior work, we could draw upon our knowledge of the phenotype of each cell in the worm to help correlate or uncover the genetic basis of observed phenotypes. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire of <i>C. elegans</i> by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from GenBank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence, the database should be a useful resource for newcomers to the <i>C. elegans</i> field seeking to obtain an initial understanding of the genetic repertoire of the organism, as well as its metabolic capabilities.
