The MAGNT bird collection, established in 1981, consists of about 6,800 databased specimens, the majority of which are from the Northern Territory.
The majority of the specimens are held as study skins with a small collection of ethanol preserved and skeletal specimens as well as a minor egg collection. Ethanol-fixed tissue samples have been kept for genetic studies.
Specimens can be lent to workers at other institutions upon application and the MAGNT also welcomes visiting researchers.
MAGNT鸟类标本馆藏始建于1981年，共收录约6800份已录入数据库的标本，其中绝大多数采集自北领地（Northern Territory）。该馆藏以研究用剥制标本为主体，同时藏有少量乙醇浸渍标本、骨骼标本及卵标本；此外还留存有乙醇固定组织样本，用于遗传学研究。其他机构的科研人员可凭申请借阅本馆藏标本，MAGNT亦热忱欢迎来访的研究人员。
