Abstract The rising popularity of various types of wood panels and the advances in manufacturing technology have increased the uses of wood. The bonding of fibers and particles to form panels, however, involves impregnation with resins, such as phenolic adhesives, which delivery desirable quality to the panels due to their insolubility in water, resistance against heat among others, but are also recognized as carcinogenic to humans (IARC, 2004). This study involved measuring the levels of formaldehyde, remaining in wood panels after use and disposal. It was initially evaluated new panels and then examined degraded ones. The results demonstrated significant volatilization of formaldehyde during the degradation process of the panels, with losses of 74.83% for MDF and 85.71% for medium density particleboards (MDP). 摘要 各类木质板材的日益普及以及制造技术的迭代升级,推动了木材应用范围的进一步拓展。然而,将纤维与颗粒胶合制备板材的工艺,需采用酚醛胶粘剂(phenolic adhesives)等树脂进行浸渍处理。这类树脂凭借不溶于水、耐热性优异等特性,可为板材赋予理想的使用性能,但同时被国际癌症研究机构(IARC,2004)认定为人类致癌物。 本研究针对使用及废弃后的木质板材,测定其中残留的甲醛含量,先对全新板材开展检测,随后再对发生降解的板材展开分析。研究结果显示,板材降解过程中甲醛发生了显著挥发:中密度纤维板(Medium Density Fiberboard, MDF)的甲醛挥发损失率达74.83%,中密度刨花板(Medium Density Particleboard, MDP)则达85.71%。研究结果显示,板材降解过程中甲醛发生了显著挥发:中密度纤维板(Medium Density Fiberboard, MDF)的甲醛挥发损失率达74.83%,中密度刨花板(Medium Density Particleboard, MDP)则达85.71%。
