We fed 40 C57BL/6 mice a 10% steamed broccoli sprout diet prior to treating them with dextran sodium sulfate (DSS), which is a well established method of triggering colitis in mice. After development of colitis, mice were sacrificed and their upper and lower intestine tissues and tissue contents were sampled and treated for 16s rRNA analysis.
