Research Background: The work, Net, gathering (orange) relates to other material in allied fields of research as a response to contemporary forms of printmaking, art practice research and art-based research methodologies. The print award is the premier award and exhibition for printmaking. The artwork addresses the research question: How does the activity of academic writing influence the making of artwork? How does the thinking through the process of making artwork inform academic writing? Research Contribution: Research aims: To extend the notion of traditional forms of printmaking processes, such as relief printing. This artwork is a unique state print, it is object based wall piece that extends conceptualisations of 2 dimensional traditional printmaking. The contribution of this artwork is also extends the notion of research methodologies, enacting academic writing from a practice based art discipline is informed by processes of becoming, making artwork and pedagogies of doctoral/academic writing. Research Results: This work broadens conceptions of representations of research methodologies. It is informed by critical theory education research and material feminism. Significance: The selection into the Fremantle Print Award 2014 is nationally significant print exhibition.
