Oral microbiota shifts after non-surgical treatment of peri-implant mucositis

We have performed Illumina MiSeq sequencing on 16S rRNA gene amplicons to characterise the supra-mucosal and submucosal microbial shift in peri-implant mucositis sites after non-surgical mechanical treatment. Specifically we aim to examine (1) the changes in the microbiota of peri-implant mucositis after non-surgical treatment; (2) identify the respective microbiota associated to the recovery and disease recurrence after treatment; (3) identify indicators in the microbiota that can be predictive of treatment outcome.
