Inhibitory DREADD hM4Di expression in Area LIP of Macaque Monkey

Immunohistochemical verification of DREADD expression in the intraparietal sulcus (IPS) of Macaca mulatta (subject: Charlie). An AAV8 vector carrying the construct hSyn-hM4Di-mCherry was injected into the lateral bank of the IPS, targeting the lateral intraparietal area (LIP). The injection was made via a chronic recording chamber, guided by electrophysiological verification of areal identity. Two postmortem sagittal sections through the IPS are included: IPS1 (peak expression site) and IPS2 (a nearby section). Immunolabeling was directed against mCherry. DREADD expression was robust and anatomically restricted to the lateral bank of the IPS, consistent with the intended injection target.IPS1 is presented at 5× (scale bar 1000 µm), 10× (scale bar 1000 µm), and 20× (scale bar 100 µm) magnification.
