NRS-20013 | Photograph albums relating to the construction of an aerodrome on Norfolk Island [Department of Main Roads]

These albums contain photographs of the construction of the aerodrome on Norfolk Island during World War II. Construction was undertaken by the NSW government for the United States Army Air Force and took place between August 1942 and February 1943 in association with the United States Engineers Department, United States Army. The photograph albums relating to the Norfolk Island construction contain the reference prefix MRP4 (Main Roads Photographs). These are black and white photographs. The first volume includes a numeral index and an alphabetical subject index in the front of the volume. Images in the first album include dates and a brief caption. The other two volumes contain enlargements of images from the first volume. These enlargements have detailed captions but no dates. Images which are enlarged are marked with a red dot in the first album.
