This dataset is a Multi-Spectral Scanner (MSS) dataset acquired by the Landsat 2 satellite, with the product identifier p029r042_2x19790506. The path number is 029, row number is 042, and the data acquisition date is 1979-05-06. Landsat, previously named the Earth Resources Technology Satellite (ERTS) in its early stage, is a series of U.S. Earth resources satellites. It constitutes a suite of Earth observation satellite systems developed by the United States for detecting and monitoring Earth's resources and environment. Since the launch of Landsat 1 on July 23, 1972, up to March 1, 1984, a total of five Landsat satellites (up to Landsat 5) had been successfully launched. The launch attempt of Landsat 6 ended in failure. Landsat 7 was launched on April 15, 1999, and continues to perform critical Earth observation missions to the present day. In terms of data product specifications, the most notable differences between Landsat-7 and Landsat-5 are: A 15-meter spatial resolution panchromatic (PAN) band was added; the Band 6 data is divided into low-gain and high-gain datasets, with its spatial resolution increased from 120 meters to 60 meters.
