This 4-station, 7 site experiment was designed to test mantle deformation models along a hotspot axis. Our methods are passive source in origin, and primarily involve determining the geometry of mantle anisotropy. This geometry can constrain the nature of mantle deformation and coupling between the plate and underlying asthenosphere.
本实验包含4个台站、7个观测点,旨在检验沿热点轴(hotspot axis)方向分布的地幔变形模型。本次研究采用的方法源自被动源(passive source)观测技术,核心内容为确定地幔各向异性(mantle anisotropy)的几何形态。该几何形态可用于约束地幔变形的本质特征,以及板块与下伏软流圈(asthenosphere)之间的耦合作用机制。
