Transcriptome of a pesticide resistant strain of Tetranychus urticae, MR-VP

The MR-VP inbred strain of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, was transcriptionally profiled using paired-end RNA-seq with five-fold biological replication. This strain is known to be resistant to multiple pesticides of the Mitochondrial Electron Transport Inhibitors of complex I (METI-Is) classification. Specifically, the MR-VP strain is resistant to the three METI-I acaricides fenpyroximate, pyridaben and tebufenpyrad. The resulting RNA-seq data allowed refinement of gene models in this resistant strain of Tetranychus urticae, including for a non-canonical member of the nuclear hormone receptor 96 (NHR96) gene family in a genomic region associated with resistance to one of these compounds.
