Characteristics of pregnant women in Lohagara, Narail, 2024

A cross-sectional study was conducted in Lohagara, a rural sub-district in Narail, Bangladesh, from January 8 to January 14, 2024, involving 351 pregnant subjects attending antenatal check-ups in government and private health facilities. Data were collected from Upazila Health Complex, Lohagara, Narail-a, a government hospital, and Khan General Hospital, Lahuria- a private hospital in Lohagara, Narail. A systematic sampling technique was applied during sampling, where every third patient who attended antenatal checkups in the ANC corners of these hospitals was selected as a participant for the interview. Utilizing the Bengali-translated Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and a structured questionnaire, the study found a noteworthy 39%-point prevalence of antenatal depression.The study period was extended up to January 30, 2024.
