Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is the etiological agent of caseous lymphadenitis (CLA), a disease that affects different groups of animals worldwide, specifically sheep and goat in production areas. Infections by this bacterium are responsible for a significant economic impact, such as decreasing meat yield, damaging wool, and leather, decreasing reproductive efficiency, culling of affected animals and increasing morbidity and mortality rates. The SigmaE strain is a mutant from C. pseudotuberculosis 1002. The protein coding gene "Two component system response transcriptional protein" was interrupted by homologous recombination.
