XopJ reduces levels of free and conjugated SA in leaves of Xcv infected pepper plants.

Susceptible pepper ECW leaves were hand-inoculated with MgCl2 or a 2×108 cfu/mL suspension of Xcv (vector), Xcv ΔxopJ (vector) and Xcv ΔxopJ (XopJ). Free SA and total SA (free SA+SAG) levels in infected tissue were measured 2 and 3 dpi. Data represent the mean SD (n = 3).
