Cultural Experiences Inventory

<div>These data were collected by <a href='https://apt613.ca/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>Apt613</a> as part of a Strategic Cultural Partnership with the City of Ottawa. The objective of the partnership was to expand and update the City’s cultural mapping work by focusing on ‘experiences’ – understanding cultural resources from the user’s/audience’s perspective. This could enable, for example, identifying complimentary experiences that could appeal to similar audiences, so that lesser-known cultural producers could be cross-promoted with more established producers. This could form a key part of a cultural tourism strategy for Ottawa.</div><br /><div>Apt613 used its extensive network of people who research and write about Ottawa’s cultural scenes to build this inventory in 2018-19. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily halted our cultural mapping work and the development of a cultural tourism strategy. </div><br /><div>We know that Ottawa’s cultural sector could look very different after the pandemic. Many businesses and organizations have been, or could be, lost. Therefore, Apt613’s work serves as a ‘snapshot’ of Ottawa’s cultural assets before COVID. The City’s cultural mapping team will revisit this project after the pandemic to document the changes that have occurred.</div><div><br /> <strong>Accuracy</strong>: Apt613 built this inventory using their extensive network of people who research and write about Ottawa’s cultural scenes. However, since the data are from a 3rd party, the City cannot guarantee the accuracy. <br /><br /> <strong>Update Frequency</strong>: This pre-COVID inventory of cultural experiences will not be updated.
