F. T. Marinetti in Romanian Print Culture, 1902–1944

This dataset records the presence and reception of F. T. Marinetti in Romanian and Romania-related print culture between 1902 and 1944. It contains 284 structured reception events, each organized as a relation between Marinetti and a target entity: author, editor, correspondent, periodical, publishing venue, or other cultural actor. The dataset covers references to Marinetti, publications by Marinetti, mentions, polemics, explicit statements of influence, correspondence, and appearances in volumes. The dataset is designed as a relational event table. Each row identifies a source, a target, the roles of both entities, the type of relation, textual genre, polarity, medium, specific venue, place or region of publication, periodical profile, cultural orientation, political orientation, daily/non-daily status, large-circulation status, known directors or editors, year, and additional notes. It therefore allows both chronological and network-based analysis of Marinetti’s circulation in Romanian literary, artistic, journalistic, and political contexts. The chronological range extends from 1902 to 1944. Most records concern periodical circulation, with 281 periodical-based entries and 3 volume-based entries. The dataset includes 139 target entities and 84 specific venues. The most frequent relation types are references, appearances, polemics, mentions, explicit influence relations, and publications. The polarity field distinguishes neutral, favorable, and hostile reception, allowing users to track shifts between informational circulation, aesthetic endorsement, and ideological or cultural contestation. The dataset is suitable for research on Futurism, Romanian modernism and the avant-garde, transnational literary circulation, reception history, periodical studies, cultural transfer, and network analysis. It may be used to examine Marinetti’s changing visibility in Romanian print culture, the media infrastructures that transmitted Futurism, the relation between literary and political venues, and the distribution of favorable, neutral, and hostile references across the prewar, interwar, and wartime periods.
