Task Allocation for Artificial Intelligence Pipelines in Edge-Cloud Environments: A Systematic Mapping Study — Replication Package

This repository contains the replication package supporting the systematic mapping study “Task Allocation for Artificial Intelligence Pipelines in Edge-Cloud Environments: A Systematic Mapping Study”. The package is organized as follows: README.md: overview of the replication package, its scope, and organization. LICENSE.txt: licensing information under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. MANIFEST_SHA256.txt: SHA-256 checksums for integrity verification of the package files. protocol/review_protocol.md: review protocol, including the research questions, information sources, search strategy, eligibility criteria, screening procedure, data-extraction process, and coding rules. protocol/data_extraction_fields.csv: data items used during the extraction process for RQ1, RQ2, and RQ3. search_strategy/master_search_string.txt: master search expression used as the basis for the searches. selection/selection_flow.csv: numerical summary of the identification and study-selection process, including database-specific retrieval counts, duplicate removal, screening, exclusions, and the final corpus. primary_studies/primary_studies.csv: bibliographic information and DOI for each of the 37 primary studies (S1–S37). results/rq1_decision_criteria.csv: allocation criteria and corresponding study classifications used in RQ1. results/rq2_computational_levels.csv: computational levels and node types identified in RQ2. results/rq2_workload_characteristics.csv: workload characteristics identified in RQ2. results/rq2_distribution_mechanisms.csv: task-distribution mechanisms identified in RQ2. results/rq2_decision_organization_timing.csv: organization and timing of allocation decisions analyzed in RQ2. results/rq2_execution_adaptability.csv: classification of execution adaptability after task execution has started. results/rq3_decision_strategies.csv: decision-making and optimization strategies identified in RQ3. results/cross_dimensional_findings.csv: quantitative relationships among the analytical dimensions reported in the cross-dimensional analysis. The original database export files and record-level exclusion decisions are no longer available and are therefore not included in this package.
