Changing type Seyferts and the AGN unified model

In AO3 we started a quasisimultaneous Xray/optical spectroscopy observationprogramme of changing type Seyfert galaxies, with the aim of investigating theorigin of the apparent Xray/optical type mismatches seen in some AGN. We usethese typechanging AGN to test whether this mismatch is caused bynonsimultaneity between the Xray and optical observations or it is due tointrinsic properties of the Broad Line Region, as suggested by our previouswork. In this proposal we request XMMNewton observations of a sample of 5targets (in addition to that already performed in AO3).
