We are developing an in-situ soil imaging device to monitor edaphic activity. This device captures A4 format images of the soil at high resolution (up to 4800 dpi), allowing for simultaneous observation of fauna (invertebrates from a hundredth of a μm to several cm), flora (roots), and fungi (rhizomorphs and ectomycorrhizae). The system is based on Epson Perfection V39 scanners, which have been adapted for field and laboratory conditions through waterproof sealing. These scanners are equipped with automated control modules operated by Raspberry Pi nano-computers, enabling high-frequency image acquisition. This dataset contains individual images and chronological image sequences acquired using this in-situ imaging technology across multiple study contexts. The file nomenclature follows the following pattern: location _ date (or period) _ image resolution _ capture frequency _ biological activity.
