DNA source was a Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain stored in the Microbiology laboratory of Instituto de Investigaciones Químico-Biológicas, Universidad Michoacana, Morelia, Michoacán, México. pUM505 is a conjugative plasmid which presents two well-defined regions:the first region corresponds to a pathogenicity island and the second region has a Genomic island related with heavy metal resistance genes. This plasmid may contain novel genes which could allow Pseudomonas strains a wide variety of adaptive conditions such as virulence and heavy-metal, antibiotic resistance systems and oxidative stress.
