Moraxella comparative genomics

Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) is a common eye disease of beef cattle. Two members of the genus Moraxella have been associated with IBK. At present, only Moraxella bovis is a recognized etiologic agent of IBK, however, M, bovoculi has been isolated more frequently from the eyes of cattle with IBK then M. bovis. The goals of this project are to sequence the genomes of a diverse collection of both M. bovis and M. bovoculi isolates that were collected from the eyes of cattle either with or without IBK, and to analyze the genomes for gene distributions within and across the two species.
