16S rRNA Amplicon Salt marsh Raw sequence reads

Salt marshes are dominated by the smooth cordgrass Spartina alterniflora in the US Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Although soil microorganisms are well known to mediate important biogeochemical cycles in salt marshes, little is known about the role of plant microbiomes in supporting primary productivity. The present project sequenced 16S rRNA gene amplicons from bulk sediment, rhizosphere, and endosphere microbial communities over a sharp gradient in sediment redox potential and plant primary production in two Georgia, USA barrier islands.
