This study aims to evaluate the impact of alternative EAs on N2O emissions in upland arable soils and to uncover the underlying mechanisms. Employing a multifaceted approach, we conducted microcosm experiments, determined soil DNA/RNA and edaphic characteristics, and applied isotope mapping techniques. Field-based manipulation experiments were also carried out to measure N2O emissions and crop yield in response to selected EAs, thereby evaluating their potential as sustainable soil amendments.
